Recently, Mike Vescovi volunteered to
teach children about saltwater fishing in his son Jakes third grade class. Ms. Smith, third grade teacher at Midstreams
School, Brick, NJ stated, Mr. Vescovi was well prepared.
He used the Future Fisherman Foundations Hooked on Fishing Not
On Drugs information supplied by the Jersey Coast Anglers Association. He also used several hands on activities such as
casting for Back Yard Bass and knot tying.
Great coaching job Mike!
Just the thought of preparing a lesson
plan for thirty children would make any parent uncomfortable. Year after year, educators ask parents to
volunteer time in the classroom and share personal experiences or interesting topics with
the children. Unfortunately, not all adults
can volunteer time and family expenses make it difficult to take off from work. For adults that do have spare time to volunteer
and need guidance, with environmental topics please e-mail the J.C.A.A Youth Education
Committee at: gkucharews@aol.com or phone 732-785-9278.
The Jersey Coast Anglers Associations
Youth Education Committee is looking for a corporate sponsor to help fund our safe boating
campaign for the year 2001. Hopefully the
corporate sponsor will help offset printing costs of 10,000 bumper stickers that will be
used to increase drug awareness and safe boating. Distribution
of the bumper stickers will be at Outdoor Sportsmens Shows and Boat Shows throughout
the year by J.C.A.A. member clubs and organizations.
The year 2001 safe boating slogan is
STAY AFLOAT DONT DRINK & BOAT.
The Jersey Coast Anglers Associations
Youth Education Committee is asking J.C.A.A member clubs/organizations for a listing of
scheduled youth and family events that are going to be held by your club or organization
during the millennium. The purpose of this
request is to alert other fishing clubs and organizations that would like to participate
in your youth and family event. The J.C.A.A.
Newspaper is a way to get the word out about whats happening in your club. Use this opportunity to inform others about events
your fishing club or organization is involved in. The
Jersey Coast Anglers Associations Youth Education Committee will support your event
with Hook On Fishing Not On Drugs material.
Please contact Greg Kucharewski with your listing of youth and family events
and dont forget the Sportsmen Shows (booth location) your fishing club or
organization will attend. By providing this
information your fishing club or organization can improve membership and increase consumer
participation.
The J.C.A.A. Youth Education Award was
presented to Mr. Thomas Fote at the J.C.A.A. Sportsperson of the Year Award Dinner on
Sunday, November 12, 2000. Tom and his wife Lyndas support are much appreciated.
The Jersey Coast Anglers Association's
Youth Education Committee will feature a special youth casting seminar 3:00 p.m. Sunday,
January 15, 2001, at Raritan Center, Edison, NJ. Participating
merchants at the hunting and fishing exposition will offer special promotions at their
booths for children attending the Jersey Coast Anglers Association's Youth Fishing
Seminars. Prizes for children and parents are welcome to attend.
