SATURDAY MAY 27, 1995Don Kamienski - Tournament Director
(from Jersey Coast Anglers Association March 1995 Newsletter)
Have you noticed that the $41,000 Jersey Coast Fluke tournament now reads $45,000? The tournament's dollar figure has been raised due to a recent influx of door prizes. In addition to the $1,000 that will be awarded the angler catching the top fluke at EACH of the nine statewide weigh-in ports, the door prize list for the special award drawing at the Trump Plaza Casino on June 2nd (8 PM) continues to grow to where it's now approachiing the $10,000 mark in terms of cash and merchandise.
Currently, all Jersey Coast Fluke Tournament participants are elegible to win a bonus check for $5,000, or a Lowrance LCD depth finder, or a Si-Tex portable VHF radio, or Berkley fishing line, or master fishing rods, or cases of outboard motor oil from Johnson, Evinrude, Yahama, and Mercury Marine, or (5) $100 gift certificates from the Mercury Quicksilver catalog. If that's not enough to coax the participants to the Trump Plaza for the drrawing, which will include free hors'doeuvres and a cash bar, we're also giving away $1,500 worth of merchandise from the M&E Marine Supply Catalog. All winners of the special prize drawing must be present at the Plaza to accept their awards. The award ceremony is open to all anglers who participated in the tournament, including their friends, but only actual participants are eligible to win the awards.
Some JCAA clubs are discussing the notion of hiring a bus so that spouses, friends, and other guests can have a great Friday night fling at Trump Plaza on June 2nd, and perhaps lug home a ton of fishing and marine equipment plus a pocket full of cash. This sounds like a great idea !! If your club needs help in arranging for a bus, contact JCAA at the fluke tournament hotline (908) 506-6565.
JCAA would like to thank its various sponsorswho have provided door prizes for the special award drawing. These sponsors include Lowrance Electronics, Berkley Fishing Tackle, Master Fishing Tackle, Si-Tex Electronics, Hobby Lobby Marine, Mercury's Quicksilver Division, Yamaha Outboards, Johnson Outboards, M&E Marine Supply, and Evinrude Outboards.
For 1995, the May 27th Jersey Coast Fluke Tournament coincides with the long Memorial Day weekend. Traditionally, this is when angling families get together across the state to wet a line for fluke or summer flounder. Being on the water on May 27th is also an exellent opportunity for these anglers to support JCAA by aprticipating in the tournament, and [erhaps pocket their share fo the $45,000 in cash and prizes that's being offered. A youngster or spouse has an equally good chance of hooking a prize winning fluke as does a seasoned angler. Even if the occupants of a tournament boat are skunked, they can still show up at the Trump Plaza on June 2nd, and walk off with an outstanding array of fishing and marine merchandese or perhaps a check for $5,000.
The entry blanks for the tournament have been distributed at various fishing expositions and boat shows by JCAA members. Copies of the entry blanks are also being distributed to all major tackle shops and marinas in the state. If your local tackle dealer doesn't have a supply of the entry blanks, and yhou want to help promote the event, call JCAA (908) 506-6565 and we'll send you a supply of the entry blanks and tournament fliers. If your JCAA club has a newsletter, you may want to mention the tournament in this document. It's the members of each JCAA club, through their active participation, that will help assure that the event will be a success.
To enter a team or a family in this event, send your check for $50 (payable to JCAA) to JCAA; 1201 Rt. 37 East, Suite 9; Toms River, New Jersey 08753, and remember to designate which of the eleven statewide weigh-in stations you'll use. The entry fee covers six anglers.
