SCHOOLS HELPING SCHOOLS

The JCAA Youth Education Committee was invited to attend New Jersey the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development 2001 Annual State Conference December 4, 2001. The conference will be held at the East Brunswick Hilton, 3 Tower Center Boulevard, East Brunswick, New Jersey. We were invited to the December 4th NJASCD Conference for supporting a local school by initiating the Future Fisherman Foundation's "Hooked On Fishing Not On Drugs" program and providing HOFNOD table display materials. The winners were identified by the following criteria: Impact on growth and development of students and/or educators, evaluation by recipients and/or the district or third party, reflects student needs and current trends, and demonstrates creativity and uniqueness in its content or implementation. J.C.A.A. MEMBERSHIP EVENTS LIST NEEDED The Jersey Coast Anglers Association's Youth Education Committee is asking J.C.A.A member clubs/organizations for a listing of scheduled youth and family events that are going to be held by your club or organization during the millennium. The purpose of this request is to alert other fishing clubs and organizations that would like to participate in your youth and family event. The J.C.A.A. Newspaper is a way to get the word out about what's happening in your club. Use this opportunity to inform others about events your fishing club or organization is involved in. The Jersey Coast Anglers Association's Youth Education Committee will support your event with "Hooked On Fishing Not On Drugs" material. Please contact Greg Kucharewski with your listing of youth and family events and don't forget the Sportsmen Shows (booth location) that your fishing club or organization will attend. By providing this information your fishing club or organization can improve membership and increase consumer participation.

BERKELEY STRIPER CLUB INC.

Many thanks again to the membership of the Berkeley Striper Club for its continued support and $100.00 donation to the JCAA Youth Education Program. We appreciate your thoughtfulness and with Outdoor Sportsmen Shows approaching we can purchase a variety of educational materials about saltwater fishing.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR NF&BW 2002

We are planning to support several Free Fishing Days throughout New Jersey with the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife during National Fishing and Boating Week 2002. Members from your fishing club can support learn-to-fish clinics for beginners at various places throughout the state on Free Fish Days (FFD) next year, June 1 & 2. ). Clinics will be for children ages 10 and up with the possibility of 25 children at each of 6 locations. The NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife will stock lakes/streams with jumbo catfish and other warm water fish. The JCAA Youth Education Committee would like to support two events per region of the state, preferably in urban areas. We need volunteer instructors to help during a two to three hour event that includes an introduction, casting practice, knot tying and rod rigging and actual fishing. The New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife staff members will handle registration and some fishing instruction. The JCAA membership volunteers would help with instruction, casting practice, fishing, releasing fish, untangling line and cleaning fish. I think most of us started fishing in freshwater and this is a perfect opportunity to share the experience of sportfishing with young anglers. Please phone 732-785-9278 or e-mail Gkucharews@aol.com if you would like to volunteer or recommend a Free Fish Day location
