JCAA 2001 Fluke Tournament
(from Jersey Coast Anglers Association January 2001 Newsletter)
Mark your Calendar now for the 7th
annual Jersey Coast Fluke Tournament Scheduled for June 2001. The exact date will be
firmed up once we get the dates for the new Fluke Season for 2001. The Jersey Coast Fluke
Tournament is a unique concept that will now include eleven mini-tournaments in one, each
with its own set of prizes. Each contest is held one of the eleven ports from Jersey City
south to Fortescue. You will compete for over $2,300 in prizes for the port you select
including a first place prize of $1,000 for the largest fish weighed in at your port. All
participants are automatically eligible for the Grand Prize of a boat, motor and trailer
that will be selected during the door-prize drawing. So in addition to your chance to win
any of the many other port prizes (to be announced) by using your fishing skill, every
boat entered has a shot to also win the Grand Prize, a Cobia Boat and Yamaha motor and
Shorelandr trailer package, and a host of other door
prizes. All door prizes will be given away as part of the huge drawing at a location to be
determined.
This fun event is important to all
recreational fishermen. The Jersey Coast Anglers Association, the eyes, ears and voice of
recreational fishermen in New Jersey, has been working hard to protect the marine
environment and the fisheries we enjoy as part of this great sport we all love. With 19
years experience carrying out this important work, JCAA is a leading advocacy group on the
East Coast. JCAA, a non profit, volunteer association, works diligently with local and
state government to increase fishing access, expand fishing opportunities and also
operates one of the most successful youth education programs anywhere
in the country. By entering the Jersey Coast Fluke Tournament, we all benefit as the
proceeds go to help JCAA continue its work.Entry slips will be available in up-coming
issues as prizes are firmed.
If you would like to be a Major Sponsor or contribute to the Tournament please contact Phil Celmer (609-693-3414) or Tom Fote at (732-270-9102). As you may be aware Resorts Hotel Casino has been sold to a new owner. Unfortunately JCAA has not been able to firm up our traditional Gala Awards Ceremony at this time. While we are hopeful the new management will again host the event, we would appreciate any contacts our supporters could provide us on alternate contact and locations. Please call Tom or myself with any ideas and thanks for your support this past year.
