NEW JERSEY FISHING FACTS:
"The materials of wealth are in the earth and the seas and in their natural productions" - Daniel Webster
New Jerseys coastal bays and estuaries are critical nursery grounds for the young of our most important commercial and recreational species.
Preservation of these habitats will be critical for sustaining New Jerseys coastal stocks for future generations.
In 1966 Congress noted that marine resources constituted a far-reaching, largely untapped asset of immense significance to the U.S. Yet only 30 years later, two-thirds of the worlds fisheries are overexploited or in danger of being exploited.
Wise management policies will be needed to rebuild these fisheries!
RECREATIONAL & COMMERCIAL FISHING CONTRIBUTE ROUGHLY $2 BILLION DOLLARS ANNUALLY TO NEW JERSEYS ECONOMY
