THREE NJ BOYS HONORED

Conserve Wildlife Foundation Recognizes Extraordinary Achievement of Three NJ Boys.

12-Year Olds Win National Contest with NJ Endangered Species Website Trenton, NJ, Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey (CWF) recognized the winners of the national ThinkQuest Junior contest for designing a website focusing on endangered and threatened species of New Jersey. The three 12-year olds were honored in a special presentation at their school in Cedar Grove, NJ.

James Kegley, Drew Ronkowitz and Brandon Lane, age 12, entered the national ThinkQuest Junior contest last spring. The goal of ThinkQuest, a non-profit organization, is to organize an entire library of websites created by children. ThinkQuest is a philanthropic initiative that supports education about and through the Internet. The students' winning website was selected from over 600 entries out of an initial pool of 1,200 applications. Each student won $750. They were assisted by two coaches: Barbara Ann Ellert, teacher of the gifted and talented in Cedar Grove, and Ken Ronkowitz, a teacher at Heritage Middle School in Livingston.... Excerpt: "We are extremely pleased that the boys took it upon themselves to design a website aimed at educating people about New Jersey's endangered wildlife," said Linda Tesauro, executive director of the Conserve Wildlife Foundation. "It's a beautiful website that highlights the over 63 endangered species we have in New Jersey that need our protection. The students also included an innovative teacher's section that is so incredibly important in educating our youth, the stewards of tomorrow. "The website will enhance the NJ Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife's Endangered and Nongame Species Program, adding value to the state's current website. To find out about endangered species in New Jersey, see the students' web site at http://tqjunior.advanced.org/5736 or check out the state's website http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/ensphome.htm.
