April 10: INTRODUCTION TO SPORTING FIREARMSSalem County Sportsmen's Club, Deepwater, NJ
Cost: $15
Participants will be introduced to the shooting sports; trap, skeet, and target shooting using 12 and 20 gauge shotguns, .22 rifles and .22 pistols. Brief classroom instruction will cover the different types of firearms and ammunition, and safe handling procedures before heading to the range.
April 16-18: FLY FISHING CLINIC FOR WOMENSchool of Conservation, Branchville, NJ
Cost:$150
If you dream of becoming a successful fly fisher, this is the workshop for you. Participants will spend the weekend immersed in the sport of fly fishing with some of the area's top fly fishers. Learn proper casting technique, fly tying, streamside entomology, equipment selection and much more.
April 30 - May 2: BECOMING AN OUTDOORS-WOMAN - NORTH
Cost: $175
Participants choose four sessions during this weekend from courses that include backpacking, fishing, kayaking, birdwatching, rock climbing, hunting, shooting, archery, mountain biking and more.
July 10: SALT MARSH SAMPLERSedge Island House, Island Beach State Park, Seaside Park, NJ
Cost: $25
Participants will spend the day exploring a sedge island and the waters of beautiful Barnegat Bay while kayaking, crabbing, seining, fishing, clamming, snorkeling and hiking.
July 17: INTRODUCTION TO FLY FISHING FOR WOMENPequest Natural Resource Education Center, Oxford, NJ
Cost: $15
A one-day introduction to fly fishing that includes fishing at the Pequest Fishing Education Pond.
September 10-12: BECOMING AN OUTDOORS-WOMAN - COASTALWetlands Institute, Stone Harbor, NJ
Cost: $210
Similar in design to the B.O.W. Northern workshop, the coastal workshop focuses on marine-based recreation like crabbing, clamming small motor boat handling, bay kayaking, deep sea fishing, coastal ecology, waterfowl hunting and much more.
September 25: PURSUIT OF WHITETAILSNJDEG&W Northern Office, Clintion NJ
Cost: $15 The fundamentals of deer hunting will be covered in this workshop. Participants can sharpen their knowledge of whitetails and the equipment and techniques used in hunting this big game animal.
October 2: SURF FISHING CLINIC FOR WOMENIsland Beach State Park Seaside Park NJ I
Cost: $25
This Hands-on workshop will cover equipment basics such as: how to choose and use rods, reels, bait and lures:
fish identification; fundamentals of casting; reading the beach and knowing the tides
October 16: PHEASANT HUNT FOR WOMANButtonwood Game Preserve Phillipsburg, NJ
Cost: $15
If you ever wanted to try small game hunting, this workshop is for you. Participants will enjoy a one-on-onw situation want an experienced hunting guide and dog. A valid hunting license will be required.
