I am proud to be selected and elected to be President of JCAA. We are in the middle of show season and everyone is getting the itch for that spring season and the start of another season of fishing. People are attending the shows looking for deals and new tackle, and some may even purchase a new boat. JCAA is planning on being at the Atlantic City Boat Show and The Saltwater Fishing Expo.
JCAA is currently selling raffle tickets to our High Roller Raffle. We will be selling them at the booths at the shows so stop by and purchase a few while supporting JCAA who is always fighting for the recreational community, for conservation and the environment. We are looking for more individuals that are willing to get involved and willing to volunteer at JCAA show booths. I have noticed that there has been less and less of the recreational community getting involved in fisheries issues but complain if it is not to their liking or they just don’t know what they are talking about. Even during the show season and throughout the entire year there is always something going on with fisheries, from reading large documents, understanding the content, discussing with others, preparing comment letters, attending hearings. If you are a dedicated individual and care for the future of a sport you love, you should get more involved. There are many organized fishing clubs out there. You should look into joining one. One of my main items as president this year is to get those people more involved. JCAA will be reaching out to these clubs to get them more involved in the process and understanding it. Just a reminder that JCAA is in the process of setting up other JCAA events throughout this year. Some of these events are our statewide Annual Fluke Tournament made up of 7 Regions, The High Roller Raffle and Sportsperson of the Year Dinner to name a few. I would like to see these events become a huge success and this can only be done with you. As the dates are made official they will be released and published. I hope to see many of you at these events and get more involved in the process.
