President's Report

by Mark Taylor
(from Jersey Coast Anglers Association February 2019 Newsletter)

As 2018 has come to end and the start of 2019, it’s that time of the year for new officers to be elected to lead this great Association. First, I would like to take this time to thank all of the 2018 Officers for working so hard and countless hours for this Association plus being a huge asset to me. It was an honor to be your 2018 President and I will always work hard to make this Association the best in New Jersey. The December JCAA meeting was canceled due to being so close to the holiday and everyone were very busy with their families during this time. The election of 2019 Officers will be at the January 29th meeting. It is very important for your club representative to be present at this meeting so they can voice your club’s vote. The 2019 Officers will be leading this great Association for the next year. There is still time if you are interested in becoming one of these leaders so be at the meeting and be nominated by your club in good standing. We are always looking for new people to get involved. The 2018 Nominating Committee put forward a slate of 2019 Officers at the November 27th meeting which is as follows.

President – Mark A. Taylor 1st Vice President – John Toth 2nd Vice President – Bill Browne Treasurer – Doug Tegeder Recording Secretary – Corresponding Secretary – Paul Turi Membership Secretary – Paul Haertel

As you can see the nominating committee is looking for a recording secretary. If you are interested please contact me before the January Meeting. This is a great position to start getting involved.

It is time for the flea markets and outdoor shows. JCAA will have a table at the 2019 Salt Water Sportsman National Seminar Series on February 9th. We will also have a booth at the Atlantic City Boat Show (February 27th to March 3rd) and Salt Water Fishing Expo (March 15th to 17th). As always, we are looking for volunteers to work the booth on those dates. If you or a member of your club can volunteer some hours to promote JCAA, please contact me ASAP. I am putting a volunteer list together now. My contact information is mtsport64@aol (subject: Show Volunteer) and 732-245-9445.

JCAA has a fundraiser fast approaching. This is our 2nd Annual Beefsteak Dinner on February 16th. This is a great event being coordinated again by Past President Paul Haertel. Paul is doing a great job promoting this event on social media, JCAA Facebook and Newsletter. Check out one of these sources and contact Paul. Last year’s event is still being talked about so don’t miss this year’s.

JCAA had its Sportsperson of the Year Dinner on November 11th at Crystal Pt. Yacht Club in Pt. Pleasant. This event went very well and everyone that attended it is looking forward to this year’s. This event would not have happened without the coordination of the Co-Chairmen Paul Turi and Dan Miller along with the help of others. I would like to thank the sponsors along with gentlemen and women that worked hard for JCAA.

JCAA is looking at ways to cut expenses. As you know, a dollar is not going as far as it used to. One of the areas that we are looking at is the newsletter. The cost of print has gone up and a lot of other originations are going to an electronic Newsletter. We are looking to go more electronic on the newsletter and only print the necessary copies. If you are currently getting a hard copy and would like to help by getting an electronic copy, email us at jcaa@jcaa.org or calling the office at 732-506-6565.

The Fluke Tournament Committee is already working on this year’s Annual Fluke Tournament. There are some changes that are being discussed such as a date change. Stay tuned as the committee finalizes the details of tournament.

I have been at some of the member clubs to speak. If you would like me or an officer to speak at your club, please send an email to mtsport64@aol.com and in the subject put “Speak at Club.”

Next JCAA General Meeting is January 29th at 385 Herbertsville Road, Brick NJ, 08724. Remember, JCAA is always here for you, but we need more people to get involved.
