PRESIDENT’S REPORT

By Mark Taylor

(from Jersey Coast Anglers Association July 1999 Newsletter)

I would like to take the time to thank all the people that participated in this year’s Jersey Coast Fluke Tournament to make it such a great success. On June 5 there were 713 boats competing at ten weigh-in ports thought out the state.

The tournament would not have been a success without the help and hard work of many people. I would like to thank many of them starting with our office manager, Phil Celmer for his long hours in the JCAA office answering phones and entering applicants in the computer and to his wife Miran for volunteering her time in Atlantic City. Frank Richetti, for keeping all the weigh-in ports under control, Gary Caputi, for being our master of ceremonies down at Resorts Casino Hotel and organizing some of the door prizes. Tom Fote, for all his hard work in getting Resorts to host our awards ceremony and all the time spent coordinating. Dave Franceschina, for setting up the database for the tournament. Dorothy Obropta for all her help with the mailings and help at the awards ceremony. Rich Pasko for helping with the mailings, answering phones and his help with many other things. Pat Donnelly, John Koegler, Doug Tegeder and his wife for all their help in Atlantic City and with selling T-shirts there. I also would like to thank the weigh-in masters at several ports, Paul Smith at Manasquan, Ray Marione at Jersey City, Al and Don Marantz at Shark River and Dick Vesper at Avalon. And thanks to the tackle stores and marines that ran the weigh-in stations themselves. We held our Awards ceremony on June 11 at Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City where we had the drawing of many door prizes and a Cobia boat, with a Yamaha motor and Shoreland’r trailer. The winner of the boat was Mr. Erich W. Neise of Mercerville, NJ. Congratulations and good fishing!

Mark your calendar for a dinner on November 14th 1999 at the Crystal Point Marina, Rt 70 & River Road, Point Pleasant, NJ to honor this year’s and past recipients of our Sportsperson Of The Year Award.
