1997 Governor's Cup - Help Needed !!!

The J.C.A.A. Youth Education Committee, will be helping novice anglers at the Governor's Sixth Annual Surf Fishing Tournament, Sunday, October 5, 1997. This will require extra help from member clubs in the J.C.A.A.. If members in your fishing club would like to help others learn the joy of surf fishing please phone the J.C.A.A. office, or show up at the J.C.A.A. booth at the Governor's Cup. Help will be needed to provide assistance for disabled anglers, youth anglers, and novice anglers. Towns along the coast have already volunteered the use of their handicap access beach chairs for disabled anglers to use during the Governor's Sixth Annual Surf Fishing Tournament. LARSON FORD will supply a new four wheel drive FORD EXPEDITION to be used as our VIP beach vehicle. The FORD EXPEDITION will also be displayed at the pavilion area during the awards ceremony. This is a fun day, come out and share your surf fishing expertise and help cast a line of caring. To reserve a surf fishing beach chair for the Governor's Cup please phone Greg Kucharewski, 732/899-8874 (leave message & phone #).

1995 S.B.A. Youth Fishing Tournament

The Seaside Business Association in conjunction with the Jersey Coast Anglers Association and Borough of Seaside Heights sponsored a summer youth fishing & crabbing tournament that captured the attention of many young anglers along the Jersey Coast this summer. Children entered the Seaside Business Association's "Hooked On Fishing Not On Drugs" youth fishing contest for July and August 1997 and also pledged to use fishing as an alternative to drugs and alcohol. "Hooked On Fishing Not On Drugs" support material was purchased from the Future Fisherman Foundation by the Seaside Business Association and distributed to all contestants when they registered at a participating weigh-in station. The awards ceremony was held Sunday, September 7, 1997 at the Franklin Avenue Pavilion, Boardwalk, Seaside Heights, NJ. All children present received a prize and a goody bag with coupons for free promotions on the boardwalk and other participating merchants in the business community. Several family members present at the awards ceremony commented about how their children had a great fishing summer and were proud of their fishing accomplishments.
