President's Report

(from Jersey Coast Anglers Association June 2002 Newsletter)

I would like to take this opportunity to again thank all those who contributed to the success of this yearís High Roller Raffle, making it possibly the best ever. It is extremely gratifying to see what we can accomplish when we pool our resources. This raffle has now become one of the largest fundraisers of the year, and the credit belongs to all those who either purchased or distributed and sold the tickets.

As the JCAA Fluke Tournament draws near, we are still looking for volunteers to help with this enormous endeavor. Contrary to what I reported last month, we will have people manning the JCAA office from Thursday, May 24th, right up thru the night of June 7th. We made this change due to the fact that the early registration ($ 85.00 ) expires on May 26th, and we want to be sure that all are given a chance to get in by the cutoff date and save the extra $15.00, because after that date, the entry fee will rise to $100.00 per boat. Vice President Mark Taylor will be coordinating the effort, so please either contact Mark directly, or you can leave a message at the office and we will get back to you. We are also putting together the list of volunteers who will be working at Trumpís Marina June 14th from about 11 am right up to and including the drawing for the boat. Once again, if you are willing to volunteer your services, please contact the office and let us know when you can be there. We are also in need of some door prizes for that night, and we cannot rely on the same individuals to keep supplying us with these gifts. Once again, I am requesting a concerted effort to help secure any prize, not matter how big or small, from your local merchants, and be sure to let them know that they can get some free advertising for their assistance.

I would also like to encourage as many people who participated in the tournament to try to make it to Trumpís Marina by 3 pm on June 14th, as that is the cutoff time for receiving the coupon for $5.00 off the cost of your dinner. Given the fact that this is the first year that Trumpís Marina will be hosting the event, it is imperative that we make the strongest possible showing, so even if you cannot make the 2 pm cutoff for the coupon, we are still counting on you coming. And if the giving away of the boat is not enough of an incentive, Trumpís will also be giving away a brand new Dodge Viper the same day. However, you are required to swipe your Trumpís Marina card once before the 14th and then again on the 14th to be eligible for the drawing, and as in the case of the boat, you must be in attendance to win. I hope to see you all there so we can all share in the festivities.
