How many times in recent years have you read about the Jersey Coast Anglers Association (JCAA) lobbying on your behalf in Trenton or Washington? Standing up for fishermen like you when your very right to fish is being threatened? The name pops up almost daily in newspapers and fishing magazines around the state. Ever wonder how much it costs to keep the pressure on fisheries managers, politicians and the well paid lobbyists from the commercial fishing industry that could care less if you're allowed to fish or if there are any fish left for you or your kids to catch? In two words -- A LOT!
How many times have you thought about joining JCAA or making a donation to help the cause but didn't get around to it? Well, here's your chance to help support the work JCAA does, have fun fishing, and, in the process, maybe take home with a new boat, pickup truck or any of dozens of cash awards or prizes at the same time.
The Jersey Coast Fluke Tournament, is the largest boat fishing tournament on the East Coast, featuring up to $90,000 in cash and prizes. Last year, over 3,000 anglers fishing from more than 600 boats from ten ports along the Jersey shore participated and had a ball doing it. It's the only tournament you can enter that gives you a shot at winning the grand prize, a Yamaha powered Cobia center console boat and Shoreland'r trailer valued at $30,000, without having to catch a fish! That's because the grand prize winner is selected by drawing at the awards ceremony held at and sponsored by Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. Fishing, prizes, Atlantic City...not only sounds like fun...it is!
The proceeds from the 5th Annual Jersey Coast Fluke Tournament go to support the work done on behalf of thousands of saltwater fishermen in New Jersey and neighboring states. From stopping the decimation of eels in our rivers and bays and the overharvest of bunker in state waters, to maintaining striped bass as a gamefish, battling for a fair share of fluke quotas, fighting to protect the marine environment from further degradation and on and on, this major fund raising event sees all the dollars generated well spent on your behalf.. The JCAA needs your help and what better way to show your support.
Say you won't be able to fish that weekend, well enter anyway. You'd be surprised by the number of anglers who register and not fish, but want to support the efforts of the JCAA. They are still eligible to win the grand prize and loads of others great door prizes at the awards ceremony and they come to A.C. to make a fun evening of it with family and friends.
The Jersey Coast Anglers Association is an association of more than 60 saltwater fishing clubs dedicated to the protection of the marine environment and fisheries and the promotion of saltwater fishing through education. With 19 years experience, J.C.A.A. is a leading advocacy group on the East Coast.
PLENTY OF CHANCES TO WIN
This event is actually ten mini-tournaments in one. Each weigh-station has its own set of prizes including a $1,000 cash award for the biggest fluke, and the fun is unlimited. Contestants can register from ten ports and they are conveniently distributed throughout the shore area from Jersey City through Fortescue, each with its own centrally located weigh-station. You register for a specific port and compete only against other boats registered from that port for a generous list of port prizes. Remember, you only compete against those boats registered in your port for those prizes and if you happen to bests the New Jersey State Record fluke, you can drive home a brand new 1999 Ford F150 deluxe Supercab 4X4 pick up worth over $35,000 courtesy of Pt. Pleasant Ford.
This year, the JCAA wishes to welcome aboard the United Fishing Association as a major sponsor. They will join a great family of major sponsors that make the JCAA Fluke Tournament a great success. These sponsors include: Resorts Casino Hotel, Yamaha Outboards, Cobia Boats, Shoreland'r Trailers, Raytheon Marine Electronics, The Fisherman magazine, Penn Reels the Great American Tackle Co., The South Jersey Angler, Pt. You must be a UFA member to be eligible to win the Abu Garcia 5500 C-3 reel and Abu Garcia Conolon Premier CPC601M triggerstik rod, a 1/4 lb.
