7TH ANNUAL GOVERNORS SURF FISHING TOURNAMENT IS ANOTHER SUCCESS
(from Jersey Coast Anglers Association
November 1998 Newsletter)The 1998 Governors Surf Fishing Tournament took place at Island Beach State Park on a day that was rainy and less than desirable, but over 1,000 hardy anglers stayed on the beach throughout most of the contest. There were enough fish being caught to keep everyones interest.
The organizers of the Governor's Surf Fishing Tournament would like to thank Penn Reels, Orvis, G. Loomis and Ultimus Lures for their generous donations. Many other donations made this a really great event for all the participants. A complete list of these donators will appear in the November issue of JCAA NEWS.

The continued success of this tournament is made possible by the efforts of the sponsoring sportsmens groups and the State of New Jersey. The Jersey Coast Anglers Association, New Jersey Federation of Sportsmens Clubs, New Jersey Beach Buggy Association, Department of Environmental Protections Division of Parks and Forestry, and Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife work together each year to produce a memorable and successful event.
Volunteers from the sportsmens groups make this wonderful event run so smoothly each year. Our thanks go to all the folks that were judges, manned the registration desk, cooked and served the food and those who worked with the youthful anglers and the Becoming an Outdoors Woman group.
