The 1998 Governor’s Surf Fishing Tournament took place at Island Beach State Park on a day that was rainy and less than desirable, but over 1,000 hardy anglers stayed on the beach throughout most of the contest. There were enough fish being caught to keep everyone’s interest.

The organizers of the Governor's Surf Fishing Tournament would like to thank Penn Reels, Orvis, G. Loomis and Ultimus Lures for their generous donations.
