PRESIDENTS REPORT
By Frank Richetti
This is the last meeting before the summer break and there are a lot issues in the works. There are three fisheries bills pending in the State Legislator, some are old bills that your are familiar with like the Elver bill (A675/S457) and the Menhaden Protection bill (A1827/S722) and one is a new bill (A2165) calling to reopen striped bass netting. All three need some form of action, so be sure your club delegate attends this meeting. We dont want to be caught off guard with any of these issues.
The Fluke Tournament was a real success this year, 568 teams enjoyed a great day of fishing, a lot of nice fish were caught with 4 and 5 pounders taking the prizes in most ports. The awards ceremony at Resorts Casino Hotel was outstanding, 1200 friends came down to enjoy Resorts hospitality (great spread of food) and have a chance to win one of over 60 door prizes and have a shot at winning the 19 ft Cobia powered by a Yamaha outboard. I know everyone who participated had a great time. I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to all our sponsors, all the weigh in stations and all the volunteers who worked so hard to make this event a truly class act.
