The one thousand dollar grant received from Outdoor Technology Group has helped immensely to start the construction of a disabled access ramp at Husky Brook Pond. The disabled access ramp is near completion thanks to the good people at Stavola Asphalt and the Fort Monmouth Fire Department. See enclosed article.
The J.C.A.A. Youth Education Committee and the Division of Fish, Game & Wildlife. State representatives have supported the Fort Monmouth Youth Service Center's youth fishing program in the past and also supplied equipment along with technical expertise. A special ceremony was held in July to promote healthy outdoor activities for children and employees from the Division of Fish, Game & Wildlife demonstrated fish stocking. A plaque was presented to the staff of the Division of Fish, Game & Wildlife by the Fort Monmouth Garrison Commander for their support and professional guidance.
Manasquan Fishing Club members have graciously volunteered to support upcoming Jersey Coast Anglers Association's Youth Education Committee events.
"Hooked On Fishing Not On Drugs" 10 Year Anniversary Clip art will be available at our next scheduled meeting. You are welcome to incorporate the clipart in your clubs newsletter or promotional material.
Silverton Fishing Club Youth Fishing Day
a Great Success
Members of the Silverton Fishing Club volunteered their time to take foster children fishing on a party boat. Several merchants supported the fishing trip by supplying prizes, food and soft drinks for the children. Owners of the partyboat Miss Machelle also donated the use of their vessel for the Youth Fishing Day. The Jersey Coast Anglers Association's Youth Education Committee, supported their efforts by providing materials and information from the "Hooked On Fishing Not Drugs" program.
Fort Monmouth Summer Youth Fishing Program
Fort Monmouth's Husky Brook Pond 1997 Summer Youth Fishing Derby is bigger and better according to the educators at Fort Monmouth's Youth Service Center. More than 200 children attending the Fort Monmouth Youth Services Center had the opportunity to fish with personalized instruction from the Jersey Coast Anglers Association's, Youth Education Committee this summer. Children participating in the 1997 Husky Brook Pond Cane Pole Fishing Derby had a chance to experience the joys of fishing. Many of the children caught their first fish and did not want to leave when the cane pole fishing instruction came to a close. Looks like these kids are hooked!!! Two spin cast rod and reel outfits were donated by a friend of the J.C.A.A. and were part of a special drawing. Each child received information from the Future Fisherman Foundation's "Hooked On Fishing Not On Drugs" program, The Fisherman Magazine, Department of Fish, Game and Wildlife and the Fort Monmouth Garrison.
