SUMMER FISHING FUN FOR CHILDREN
Its summer "Do You Known What Your Children Will Be Doing?" Why not take them fishing or crabbing a few times a week. There are several fishing and crabbing events in New Jersey for children and adults. Local newspapers and fishing publication such as; The Fisherman magazine list several fishing events every month. The Shore Surf Club, located in Point Pleasant, New Jersey hosts a summer long fishing tournament for youngsters from ages 6 to 16 years old. Most local tackle dealers in the Point Pleasant, Brick, NJ area have sign up forms for the 1997 Shore Surf Club Youth Fishing Tournament. Mansquan Fishing Club also hosts a Youth Fishing Tournament at the Manasquan Inlet in August. Newark Bait and Fly Casters hosts their Family Fishing Day in September.
SABBATICAL
Dr. Eleanor Bochenek, Marine Agent for New Jersey Sea Grant will be on a six month sabbatical. She will be missed greatly by the J.C.A.A Youth Education Committee. Dr. Bochenek has made arrangements for a young gentleman to help in her absence.

The Jersey Coast Anglers Association was contacted by a fishing friend that has agreed to donate his used fishing equipment to the J.C.A.A Youth Education Committee. The equipment will be distributed to needy children that enjoy fishing.
J.C.A.A. FLUKE TOURNAMENT AWARDS CEREMONY
A crabbing seminar was made available for children at the J.C.A.A. Fluke Tournament Awards Ceremony located at Island Beach State Park. Mr. Steve Dull a volunteer youth fishing instructor from Ocean Grove, New Jersey helped children learn the basics of crabbing at the Jersey Shore. Mr. Dull is a veteran angler and has volunteered to help the Jersey Coast Anglers Association promote youth fishing in New Jersey.
