EDITOR WANTED
by Paul Smith
(from Jersey Coast Anglers Association - June 1997 Newspaper)
The JCAA NEWS will have a new editor by the end of 1997. Health, family and business considerations make it necessary for me to leave this position after four years.
It has been a real challenge to help JCAA produce a monthly publication that contains accurate and up-to-date information in a readable format. You have to realize that when this started as a simple newsletter, most of us had no background in publishing and very little expertise in writing or the use of computers.
The JCAA NEWS has become a major source of accurate information for many persons concerned with fisheries and environmental issues. Readers know that the contents of this publication reflect the continuing belief of the JCAA that the restoration and health of all parts of the marine environment is our most important priority.
The success of this publication is due mainly to our many contributing writers each month. When you consider that very few are professional writers, it makes their efforts even more impressive.
The JCAA NEWS has come a long way in a short time and it must continue to improve as an effective voice for the marine recreational angler. A new computer system will soon be in place at the JCAA office. This will make it possible to use a top quality publishing program that can incorporate photographs and features that will make the paper not only more readable but also more interesting.
It is time for a concerned person to step forward to bring this publication to the next level. If you have some writing skills, are familiar with a computer and are looking for a challenge, why not consider getting involved in producing this important publication. Please contact Frank Richetti or Tom Fote if you are interested. As the current editor, I will be happy to discuss the various aspects of the job and answer any questions.
