Young angler promotions supplied by STREN FISHING LINES and support material from the Future Fisherman Foundation's "Hooked On Fishing Not On Drugs" program added to this years success at the J.C.A.A. Youth Education booth. Over 250 children learned about knot tying and drug awareness at the Governor's Fifth Annual Surf Fishing Tournament. Children that tested their knot tying skills at the Jersey Coast Anglers Association's Youth Education booth had plenty of prizes. Children that learned the improved clinch knot received a goody bag containing "Hooked On Fishing Not On Drugs" pamphlets and decals Stren Fishing Lines youth angler support material, The Fisherman Magazine and their choice of "Say No To Drugs" awareness promotions.
Dr. Eleanor Bochenek, Marine Agent for New Jersey Sea Grant and the Jersey Coast Anglers Youth Education Committee is in the last stages of completing the saltwater resource fishing guide to complement the existing freshwater Pathway To Fishing program. The saltwater fishing guide is part of a project to teach students how to fish for saltwater species of fin fish and protect our aquatic environment offshore.
Through the fund-raising efforts of the Jersey Coast Anglers Association's "Kids Wish 'N To Go Fish 'N" donation canister campaign a $148.00 donation will be sent to The Valerie Fund, to take children with cancer to Camp Happy Times, so they may go camping and fishing.
The Jersey Coast Anglers Association's Youth Education Committee will establish a youth fishing and aquatic education network through member clubs in the J.C.A.A. The purpose is to have member organizations of the J.C.A.A., mail or fax youth fishing information to our office so that their youth & family fishing activities will be published in the J.C.A.A. newsletter. Several member clubs in the J.C.A.A. work hard to promote youth and family fishing and should be recognized for their accomplishments. The J.C.A.A. Youth Education Committee can help provide banners, posters, fishing rods & reels, and a variety of other support material for youth and family fishing events.
