It has been only a little more than two years since the we decided to change the format of the JCAA NEWS to make it easier to read and provide even more current information on fisheries issues. It has been a process that continues to evolve as we obtain better computers, programs and associated equipment. You will soon see photographs associated with some articles and changes in the way our Sponsors ads are displayed. These changes are possible now that we have a full page scanner in our computer system.

JCAA has received a grant from the American Sportfishing Association in the amount of $1,499 to be used to purchase the scanner and document feeder we needed. This equipment will help JCAA produce much needed educational materials to be used in our Youth Fishing and Aquatic Resources Education Committee. We have constant requests to assist and provide materials for programs run by schools, clubs, recreation departments, and local, county, state and federal agencies. We appreciate the generous support of the ASA by helping JCAA obtain this vital state-of-the -art equipment that will allow our programs to grow and improve.

The June issue of JCAA NEWS contained a lot of information on the extremely successful Jersey Coast Fluke Tournament. Many friends of JCAA were mentioned and thanked for their support and the hard work that made this event so successful. We regret that no mention was made of the popular hunting and fishing publication Eastern OUTDOORS and it’s dedicated editor, Lou Rodia. Mr. Rodia has long been a supporter of the goals and accomplishments of JCAA. His publication provides a sane voice in fishery management issues and is a valuable source of accurate information. We feel that much of the success this statewide fluke tournament enjoyed, in the southern ports of the state, is due to information supplied by Eastern OUTDOORS to it’s readers. Thanks Again to Lou Rodia and Eastern OUTDOORS.

Don’t forget to take part in the 4th Annual Governor’s Surf Tournament at Island Beach State Park, NJ on Sunday October 1, 1995.
