The following is a letter received from Gertrud Strong, retired teacher of the Newark school system:

Our Endangered Species (Human)

At least with our animals the parents protect, love and teach them how to take care of themselves and prepare for them for adult life.

Not so with many of our children who are left to fend for themselves until they enter Pre-School or Nursery School.

In observing a family of three generations you will find each generation is ready to accomplish more at an earlier age than the previous one. An example is in academic progress and wise use of leisure time.

Naturally this is ideal but we must concentrate on the children who are receiving little guidance and motivation to strive for better lives.

These children must be given a wealth of experiences through which they will develop more skills and interests for the future.

Hopefully the parents will be encouraged to join in these activities. However it is a job for everyone.

If a child has an interest it improves his self image and that is most important. Now get "Hooked On Fishing Not On Drugs" is one way to save our Endangered Species".
