The HRFA held the first part of its annual "Hooked On The Hudson" program at the Hudson River Museum in Fort Lee, NJ. The doors opened at 6:30 PM with exhibits by the HRFA, Steve Sloan's Legal Defense Fund, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the American Littoral Society, and other groups. JCAA's booth was in attendance, manned by Gary Caputi and Greg Kucharewski, the Youth Education Committee Chairman.
The evening's star attraction was a striped bass fishing tour of the Hudson River from George's Island to Sandy Hook, conducted by well known author, Pete Barrett, and JCAA's own Gary Caputi. The slide presentations and commentary took the audience through the beautiful scenery and excellent fishing the river has to offer from spring through early winter. A capacity crowd of 200 filled the Museum auditorium. Barrett started the journey at George's Island and detailed techniques and locations for catching striped bass in the upper river, ending his presentation at the northern tip of Manhattan Island. I picked up where Pete left off, covering both the Hudson and East Rivers around Manhattan, the Harbor and Raritan and Sandy Hook Bays, providing detailed information on fishing techniques and locations for catching stripers in these areas.
We thank the HRFA for inviting us to attend and hope it opened their eyes to the importance of JCAA and the associations willingness to participate in important promotions like "Hooked On The Hudson."
