From its early days as the Garcia Corporation to its present prominence in the fishing tackle marketplace under its new name, Abu-Garcia, this well known rod and reels company continues to offer some of the finest tackle built anywhere in the world to recreational fishermen like you and I. They made their move from New York in the mid 1960's to a facility on Alfred Avenue, in Teaneck, NJ, a location that made Teaneck famous. In the 1980's, the company moved to larger, more modern office, warehouse and shipping facilities on Law Drive in Fairfield, NJ. There they remain, providing quality fishing products to a growing world market..
But Abu-Garcia executives still recognize their commitment to recreational fishing and as part of that commitment, they continue to support fishermen's conservation and lobbying groups like JCAA, located right in their own backyard.
For this year, the kind folks at this company have donated tackle for use as prizes in JCAA raffles, in addition to their cash corporate sponsorship. They have been a sponsor since the program started last year and have renewed their support and confidence in JCAA again in 1994.
Company president, Dwayne Pfenninger, told your reporter that involvement with JCAA is just one of many ways Abu-Garcia recognizes its responsibility to sport fishing, its commitment to the future of our marine fisheries resources and the continued improvement of the marine environment. "We're proud of our association with JCAA, truly a leader in representing saltwater anglers and a staunch advocate of a clean and healthy marine environment," said Pfenninger in a recent phone interview. " The tackle industry and recreational anglers could use more groups that are as diligent and effective as JCAA has been for New Jersey and the entire East Coast. The groups reputation for taking the right stands and not backing down is becoming known throughout the sport fishing industry and community."
