Sportsperson of the Year Dinner/Dance

by Paul Turi

(from Jersey Coast Anglers Association November 2005 Newsletter)

The Jersey Coast Anglers Association will be hosting its annual “Sportsperson-of-the-Year” awards dinner/dance as a fundraiser on Sunday, November 13, 2005 from 4:00-9:00 p.m. at the Crystal Point Yacht Club, RT. 70 & River Rd, Point Pleasant, NJ. Anyone desiring tickets should contact Dan Miller at (609) 641-7821. Individual tickets are $60 each and tables of 10 are $500, which is a $100 savings.

Many clubs take a table of 10.  Some clubs pay for the entire cost of the table, while others will pay a portion to offset the cost to its members.  I would urge all clubs to do what they can in order to be represented at the affair and so that we may have a good turnout.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Martin McHugh, Director of NJ Fish & Wildlife, who will be speaking on the Future of New Jersey’s Resource Management for the Coming Year.

At our September general membership meeting we received two nominations for sportsperson of the year.  A short bio of each nominee can be found in the President’s Report.  At our October general membership meeting we will be voting for this year’s sportsperson of the year.  Any club wishing to make a nomination can do so from the floor at the meeting.  Be prepared to present a short bio of why the nominee deserves to be sportsperson of the year.

If anyone would like to donate a prize, please contact me, Paul Turi, at (609) 597-3193.  I am sorely in need of prizes this year, so anything you can donate will be greatly appreciated.  Remember, Jersey Coast is now a 501-C-3 so any donation that is made is tax deductible.
