Review of Recreational Fisheries Survey Methods

Club Quarters, Downtown
52 William St. New York, NY 10005
September 22-24 2005

We are pleased to announce the fourth meeting of the NRC Committee to Review Recreational Fishing Survey Methods. You are welcome to attend the public sessions of this meeting, which are scheduled for September 22-23 at the Club Quarters Downtown (52 Williams Street [between Pine and Wall Streets]) in New York City. A public comment period is scheduled for 3:30 pm on September 22—individuals will be limited to 5 minutes and slots will be allotted to those who request time first. The agenda for this meeting will be posted shortly on the committee website (http://dels.nas.edu/osb/Rec_Fish.shtml). The committee roster and project scope are also available through this site.

This study will critically review the types of survey methods used to estimate catch per unit effort and effort in recreational fisheries, including state/federal cooperative programs. The committee will examine representative survey types and will consider the match or mismatch between options for collecting recreational fisheries data and alternative approaches for managing recreational fisheries.

To attend this meeting, please RSVP to Phil Long (plong@nas.edu) by September 16—please include in your RSVP whether you would like to give public comment.
