The New Jersey Marine Fisheries Council will be meeting in the Galloway Township Library on March 7, 2002. Probably the most imposing agenda item will be setting the 2002 size limit and season for summer flounder. The options are limited. We could stay with a 16” minimum and have a shorter season than last year, we could increase to 16.5” fish and have a season just a week or two longer than last year or we can increase to a 17” minimum fish and have an extra two months of fishing as compared to last year. Each option has its pros and cons. Check out the table on the last page to see some of the proposed seasons and sizes. We will discuss these tables at our next meeting and try to form a consensus on one of the options. If you have any questions on the tables, call the Division of Fish & Game at (609) 292-7794.
