This dinner will be better than ever.  Be at the Crystal Point Yacht Club, RT. 70 & River Rd, Point Pleasant, NJ on October 28, 2001 from 4:30- 8:30 p.m. This year we will honor Gary Caputi as the JCAA “Sportsperson of the Year”.

Gary is familiar to all of you as the Master of Ceremonies of the JCAA Fluke Tournament Awards.  He has held many different jobs in the fishing industry.  He has been a publisher, staff writer and advertising chief in the magazine part of the industry.  His articles now appear in numerous fishing magazines and his book Fishing For Striped Bass is still a hot seller.  But that is not why we are giving Gary the award.  It is for his dedication to the protection of the marine resource and rights of recreational anglers.  He has given thousands of hours of his time to this effort.   He has been an active member of the JCAA since the late 80’s and has been on the Mid Atlantic Marine Fisheries Council since 1995 where he serves on numerous committees and makes sure that the feelings of recreational anglers are heard.  He is a writer, a fisherman, and a conservationist and always works to protect the rights of the recreational angler. Gary is truly a worthy recipient of this year’s award.    Please join us as we honor Gary.  Past recipients of this award include legislators, environmental leaders, outdoor writers and other worthy recipients.  I have included a more detailed biography that clubs had when considering Gary’s nomination.

You can sponsor a table of 10 for $500 or purchase individual tickets at $60 each.  This gala event will accommodate 300 supporters and friends for a semi-formal sit-down dinner with choice of entrees and cash bar. So get a group together from your club or organization and come to the dinner/dance and have a great time.  Don’t forget your partner!  That’s right.   Treat your mate (you know, the one who has been waiting for you at home/on the dock all summer) to an evening to remember at the beautiful Crystal Point Yacht Club.  Enjoy an excellent three-course meal, door prizes and a DJ.

There will be raffles galore.   The raffle and door prizes will include a Penn International 30 rod and reel combo from Abu Garcia, Folsum Rods, Ocean Waves Sunglasses, Rogue Rods and many others.   There will be fishing trips on local party boats, tackle from various manufacturers, gift certificates from tackle shops and Jim Freda’s new book.  Remember to get tickets or information call Tom Siciliano at (201) 573-6363 or Al Marantz (732) 280-2643 (night).

This year’s 50/50 raffle proceeds will be donated to a September 11 relief fund.  We will also be selling our new Flag T-shirt.  Part of the proceeds from the T-shirts will also go to the September 11 relief funds.

Senator Jon Corzine had to cancel as our guest speaker because of scheduling changes that had to be made after the September 11 Attack.  He sent his apology and said he would like to come to a future JCAA function.  He was also looking forward to fishing that morning and will have to reschedule that trip.
