The Jersey Coast Anglers Association will be hosting its annual “Sportsperson of the Year” awards dinner as a fundraiser on October 28, 2001 from 4:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Crystal Point Yacht Club, RT. 70 & River Rd, Point Pleasant, NJ.  We will honor this year’s and past years’ recipients of our “Sportsperson of the Year” award. Past honorees include legislators, environmental leaders, outdoor writers and other worthy recipients.  Our schedule speaker for the dinner is Senator Jon Corzine. This is your opportunity to meet the senator and let him know your feelings on fishery issues in the State of New Jersey.  In order for the JCAA to be effective we need his support and we need to let him know how committed we are to protecting the future of New Jersey’s recreational anglers.  Don’t miss this chance

We need your nominations for this year’s honoree.  Please submit your club’s nomination by September 7.  It should be submitted in writing with an short statement describing the reasons that your nominee should be this year’s honoree.  The nominees will be listed in September’s newsletter and the vote will take place at the September 25 meeting of the JCAA.

We also need your help with Ticket Sales and Door Prizes. Would you please consider sponsoring a table of 10 at $500 that is a $100 discount over the individual ticket price of $60.00.   This gala event can accommodate 300 supporters and friends for a semi-formal sit-down dinner with choice of entrees and cash bar. So get a group together from your club or organization and come to the dinner/dance and join your fellow anglers at a great time.  Don’t forget your partner?  That’s right.   Treat your Mate (you know, the one who has been waiting for you at home/on the dock all summer) to an evening to remember at the beautiful Crystal Point Yacht Club.  Enjoy an excellent three-course meal, Door Prizes and a DJ.  You will be able to dance, share stories of fishing and bid on one of the many fantastic theme baskets and door prizes on display.

Please have your club sponsor a door prize or theme basket.  This can be a basket of your choice.  Theme baskets consist of at least five items in a category assembled in a box/basket.   Example:  Our beautiful Spa Basket has hand cream, nail file kit, shampoo, conditioner, loofa and soft towel.  It could also include a gift certificate to a SPA.  The offshore Fishing Box comes complete with cooler, lures, gloves, knife, pole, reel, etc. just to name a few.  If size is a problem call a nearby club and co-sponsor a basket.

We welcome door prizes for both male and females donated by individuals.
