FISHING TACKLE LOANER SITE AND JCAA

Hey, do you want to try sportfishing without the cost of buying all the equipment? Learn about the sport before you buy expensive gear and see if you would enjoy recreational fishing. The Jersey Coast Anglers Association’s Youth Education Committee will loan you fishing equipment to start your first fishing experience. We will provide the tackle you need along with a rod/reel to get you hooked. We have a variety of informational pamphlets about freshwater and saltwater fishing for the novice angler. In June, you can also take advantage of New Jersey’s two free fishing days “no freshwater fishing license” during National Fishing Week. There is a state loaner program located at the New Jersey Division of Fish, & Wildlife Education Center, 605 Pequest Rd., Oxford, NJ 07863, Phone: 908-637-4125.

As in the past, members of the JCAA Youth Education Committee will offer assistance to small groups and classrooms. We will provide your group with a presentation about how to start a fishing program utilizing material from the acclaimed Future Fishermen Foundation’s “Hooked On Fishing Not On Drugs.” Other aquatic programs include: Pathway To Fishing, Becoming An Outdoors Women, Freshwater and Saltwater Fly Tying, Project Aquatic Wild, Crabbing at the Jersey Shore, Safe Boating, How to start a Youth Fishing Club, and Project Access for Disabled Anglers. The cold winter months are upon us and this is the perfect time to plan a spring fishing lesson. Be sure to let the JCAA Youth Education Committee know in advance if you need instructional assistance, because our volunteers have prior commitments for 2001. We will do our best to assure your first fishing outing will be successful. And remember “measure the FUN not the amount of FISH you catch”.
