(from Jersey Coast Anglers Association May 2000 Newsletter)
Development of an application nominating the Barnegat Bay for No Discharge Area designation is underway. This federal approval would prohibit the discharge of treated and untreated vessel sewage into the estuary. This approval is the primary tool available to state and local agencies to provide additional protection of the Bay from vessel sewage discharges.
Two workshops have been scheduled to bring together members of local, regional and statewide organizations, agencies and interested citizens to discuss the No Discharge Area application for Barnegat Bay and to invite public input into the process.
