It was a beautiful day at Island Beach State Park for the 12th Annual Governors Tournament. Over a thousand people participated in the event. Governor James McGreevey handed out the awards for the event. He told me how much he enjoyed doing an event like this. He thanked all the sponsors and volunteers that made the Governor’s Tournament possible. The winner of the Governor’s Cup is an eleven-year-old who caught a 35-inch striped bass on his first cast with a plug at 6:30 AM. The sponsors of the Governor’s Tournament are NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife, NJ Division of Parks and Natural Resources, Jersey Coast Anglers Association, NJ State Federation of Sportsmens Clubs and NJ Beach Buggy Association. The Department of Environmental Protection will distribute a press release tomorrow with additional details. If you have any questions, call me (732-270-9102).
